This month we broke 2 records which I will tell you about later in the report.
The Memorial Hall was used 10 days making a total of 37 with 15 more dated for the rest of the year.
There were 2 groups that visited this month. One from the Mental Health and I gave a guided tour to the Locate, Knowlton Homemakers.
On the 11 the Smith family came and took the Playhouse. I was surprised it stayed together when they lifted it over the fence and placed it on the flatbed trailer.
Gary Coffrin came and spent some time visiting with Sharon Moore to discuss the pictures and made plans accordingly. The amount of time and effort He has given to the museum is awe inspiring. He is as excited as we are with this project.
Douglas Ochsner came to discuss dismantling the Milwaukee Railroad display.
He donated a gallon of paint to paint the floor as near a color as the dirt in the yard. Jay Terrett brought his camper in and spent a few days working on different projects. He, Wally Badgett and Sharon Moore took up the tracks and buildings from the railroad display. They put them in in Wally Bowers enclosed trailer and it was put in the Wagon Barn. Sharon Moore had a large roll of tracing paper that was used to trace the position of buildings on the floor. Douglas Ochsner has extra cars he will donate to be placed on the track at the back of the display to fill the back of the yard.
The afternoon was spent picking up and cleaning the Epstein sign. The next day Jay, Wally, Todd LaRowe, Sharon, Grant Miller, Deloris and Connie Cameron placed the sign in the display and Denise Hartse came to redesign the room.
Roger Sprague donated a buckboard and a L. A. Huffman that has a similar buckboard in it. They will be displayed together. He also donated a galvanized water trough that was attached to the proper wagon in the wagon barn.
Lots of janitorial things were taken care of while Jay was here with his tools. The ramp on the Log Cabin was oiled and some doors were repaired. The next Morning he put 2 long shelved over the desk in the office. That afternoon Leigh Allison helped me sort and place research books on said shelves, which definitely freed up space.
On June 21 we had a book signing. The author being Todd Harburn, the title of the book “ A Life Cut Short at the Little Big Horn—Army Dr. George E. Lord”. 17 people attended and that was the week records were broken. We sold $1,099.32 in the Gift Shop and $1,346.95 credit card sales.
The Fundraiser Dinner was held on June 23rd with 90 people attending. The auction pieces were a coffee table donated by Gary Miller, a Corn Hole game by Kent Williams, a bronze by Mark Jacobson and a one of a kind cartoon drawing by Wally Badgett.
Leif Ronning has been painting the metal doors on the buildings to preserve them and to continue the color scheme. He was also appointed by President Jay Terrett to be on the board and fill out the term of Bill Jensen who retired due to health reasons.
It has been a great month for the museum, our Thanks to all .
