End of year figures are: Visitors from all 50 states and 24 Foreign countries down from the 32 of last year. There were approximately 4,082 visitors through the front door, with about 3,506 attending the 56 functions in the Memorial Hall for a total of 7,588.
We received monetary end of year donations from: Robert Engdahl, Rebecca Geary, Alice Williamson, Ace Hardware, Virgina Carey Dana Pettit, Rosemary Zettler, Oddy Construction, Steve and Gayle Muggli for a total of $5,250. We are so thankful for their generosity.
We were able to replace some carpet in the heritage center, it brightened that room so much it looks like we put in another row of lights. We have received grant money to finish the other 2 rooms that will tie it all together. The railroad display needs a few more things to be done and it will be furnished. Had to strip the room due to weather damage but we can’t wait for people to see the improvements. The main log building got a new roof. That turned into a bigger job than anticipated, as they found all kinds of problems after they removed the first layer. We held our breath as they worked and Mother Nature gave them a break so they got it finished in December. We are continuing to put up stories and labels on the displays as we find more information.
As people contact us for information, we get to have very interesting conversations with people all over the world. They say you are never to old to learn new things and that is so true.
